RUMOR: New details on Disney’s upcoming stand-alone Star Wars films!

June 20th, 2013 by Edwin Torres Jr 1 Comment

So by now we all know that Disney plans on releasing a new Star Wars film every year, starting with J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII in 2015.

As previously reported, Disney/Lucasfilm will alternate each year between a trilogy movie and a stand-alone character spin-off, until at least 2019. After that who knows?

Well now we have some details! According to Joblo, who gets it from a “trusted and reliable source”, the first two spin-offs will star Boba Fett and a younger Han Solo.

Of course it was rumoured these two characters would get their own films, along with Yoda, and Jabba to name a few. The site says the Han Solo film will reportedly revolve around his friendship with Chewbacca, “potentially on how they met and became partners on the Millennium Falcon”. No details are known about the Boba Fett film as yet.

As for the Yoda film, well this is not happening, and I for what am very happy about that. With Yoda I think less is more… keep him mysterious.

I think Solo and Fett are the way to go. They can expand on the characters and the universe without relying on Jedi as the focus.

What would you like tackled in a Star Wars stand-alone movie?

I’d have to say that rumored Seven Samurai-style movie would be my dream come true.
