Scarlett Johansson & Lupita Nyong’o in talks for Disney’s The Jungle Book

April 25th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o are in negotiations to join Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book.

Johansson is in early stages of talks to voice the character of Kaa, the python who hypnotizes then eats other animals. Kaa is the movie’s second villain after Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger being voiced by already cast Idris Elba.

Nyong’o on the other hand is in final negotiations to play Rakcha, a mother wolf who adopts Mowgli.

No word yet on who is playing Mowgli.

Favreau is also producing along with Brigham Taylor. Justin Marks penned the script.

As often happens in Hollywood another project about the same subject also in the works. Warner Bros. is developing its own version of the The Jungle Book with Andy Serkis set to direct.

The movie is set to be released on October 9th, 2015.
