The crew at Movieweb have been on a Spider-Man role lately. Their latest news is regarding Green Goblin. SPOILERS ahead. (you should know me by now)
None of the following has been confirmed by Sony Pictures yet. The spoilers that we’re talking about are from deep inside the production, and are plot points that will be seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it’s possible that some of this stuff is actually being saved for the third Amazing Spider-Man film.
“Well, we can confirm that Green Goblin will actually be making his big entrance during the climax of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Here is a photo of the glass case that contains Norman after his transformation, which he breaks out of.”
The site claims this second photo is a mock-up of the Green Goblin glider that the stunt team has been using for practice. “It’s a little hard to make out what it is, but follow the black around the edges to get an idea of the shape.”
The biggest spoiler is the description of Green Goblin’s armor:
“We now have a more accurate description of Green Goblin’s suit of armor, and apparently the costume designers are taking both a nod from Tony Stark’s Iron Man and Christopher Nolan’s Catwoman, which uses tech to resemble iconic signatures that might otherwise be ridiculous in a more realistic setting.
As previously reported, Green Goblin’s suit will be made up entirely of matte black armor that resembles a hi-tech motocross suit. The suit will remain open-faced, and there will be no helmet at all. Norman will have green hair that is spiked high up. In his ears, he will be wearing a Bluetooth device that will make it look as though he has the Green Goblin’s signature pointed ears, the same way Selina Kyle’s goggles worked in creating the illusion that she had cat ears. The back of the armor has a spine. At the moment, there are no green accents. From a distance, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Tony Stark’s signature Mark XLII armor had been painted black.”
One last interesting bit of news is that Peter’s new Spider-Man costume allegedly has an mp3 player built into it. They say that most of the Rochester chase scene we’ve seen in set photos will be set to blasting rock music as though only Peter can hear it in his head.
The film is set to swing into theaters May 2nd, 2014.
The third film will be released on June 10, 2016, and the fourth on May 4, 2018.
