Teaser trailer for Starship Troopers: Invasion

March 24th, 2012 by Marc Comments

We at FTN love the first Starship Troopers. The second one is pants and we’ve yet to see the third, but this looks promising. This trailer popped up at WonderCon and Sony announced that the direct to BLU-RAY and DVD CG movie is produced by Casper Van Dien, who starred in the first and third movies, and Ed Neumeier, who wrote the first movie.

Dark, gritty and impressive – although it’s unlikely it caught the tone and humour of the first movie – we hold out high hopes of a cool man vs giant bug movie – CG seems like a good idea for this, so long as it’s better animation that the TV show, although the detail in this trailer would certainly imply this to be the case…

So consider us, once again, cautiously optimistic.

Here’s the official synopsis:
Starship Troopers 4: Invasion
In Starship Troopers: Invasion, a distant Federation outpost protected by the Starship John A. Warden comes under attack by bugs and the team on Fast Attack Ship Alesia is assigned to help evacuate the survivors and bring military intelligence safely back to Earth. Before the attack ship can rendezvous with the starship, Carl Jenkins, now at the ministry of Paranormal Warfare, takes the starship on a clandestine mission and goes missing in the nebula. The battle-hardened troopers are then charged with a rescue mission that may have much more sinister consequences than they ever could have imagined.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
