The Big Yin gets Hobbit role

February 9th, 2012 by bash Comments

Scottish comedian Billy Connolly has secured a role in The Hobbit, the Hollywood Reporter has said.

The Glaswegian, whose past credits include Mrs Brown and The X-Files: I Want to Believe, has been signed up to play Dain Ironfoot, the dwarf cousin of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage).

Connolly’s role is likely to see him star in the second movie The Hobbit: There and Back Again as his character is essentially only involved in the Battle of the Five Armies.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters in December with The Hobbit: There and Back Again being released the following year.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
