The Day of the Triffids to stalk the big screen

The Day of the Triffids is to be adapted into a movie, it has been confirmed.

Ghost House Pictures is behind the project which is based on the 1951 sci-fi horror novel by John Wyndam and the 1962 film Invasion of the Triffids. The film will be produced by Ghost House Pictures, The Mark Gordon Company, and Preger Entertainment, LLC.

Neil Cross will write while Sam Raimi will be one of the main producers. Cross created and wrote the acclaimed television show Luther, which will air its third season on BBC soon. He currently has several feature scripts being produced by Guillermo del Toro including the horror film Mama.

The Day of the Triffids is a post-apocalyptic story about aggressive plants taking over the world. It has been made into one feature film (in 1962), two radio drama series (in 1957 and 1968), and two TV series (in 1981 and 2009).
