The Monk gets a spooooooooooky UK trailer

March 29th, 2012 by Marc Comments

The trailer for The Monk has just gone live and we’re… intrigued. Vincent Cassel can be solid when given the right material and who doesn’t love a good ‘man vs devil’ movie? And what’s not to love about a seriously pretentious and arty trailer? Oh…

Here’s the official Synopsis as per the press release…

The rise and fall of a Capuchin Monk (Vincent Cassel) in 17th century Madrid.
Abandoned as a baby on the steps of a monastery and raised in strict Capuchin fashion, Ambrosio has become the most famous preacher in the country. While large crowds from all over the country come to hear his mesmerizing sermons, he’s also bitterly envied for his success by certain fellow monks.Convinced of his virtue and righteousness, Brother Ambrosio thinks he is immune to temptation…Until obscure events start terrorizing the monastery. Could they be connected to the unexpected arrival of Valerio, an apprentice monk who has the miraculous gift to relieve Ambrosio’s splitting headaches and hides his disfigured face under a wax mask?Adapted from the eponymous cult classic Gothic novel by Matthew Gregory Lewis, written in 1796.In cinemas, 27th April 2012

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
