The Planet Thieves to be adapted for big screen

September 5th, 2012 by bash Comments

The forthcoming young adult novel The Planet Thieves is to be made into a feature film.

The book, by Dan Krokos, is scheduled to be published in 2013 by Tor/Starscape.

A synopsis reads: When the crew of the SS Egypt gets massacred by an alien race, Mason Stark, a thirteen-year-old cadet in the Earth Space Command, must lead his fellow cadets in a daring surprise attack to retake the ship, and recover a stolen technology that could spell the end of planet Earth.

Writing on his blog, Kronos said: “I wanted to write a pure adventure story. Something fun. What I came up with is slightly darker than what I was going for, but it’s still a work in progress. I got the idea when I imagined the bridge of a space ship manned only by cadets. Kids who knew what they were doing but lacked the experience of battle. I asked myself why that would happen, and went from there.”

Bendersprink and Heyday Films will produce the adaptation with Pouya Shahbazian.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
