Roland Emmerich has confirmed that he has two scripts in near working order for Independence Day 2.
The reasoning is that the director has yet to tie down Will Smith’s return – so one screenplay features Captain Steven Hiller and the other doesn’t.
While doing the press rounds to promote the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release for White House Down, Emmerich told The Playlist that the status of Independence Day 2 was “a daily battle … The budget, the schedules, the actors … [but] It’s looking good.”
Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum are expected to return, while Michael B. Jordan is also rumoured to have a role.
