Want to see a real lightsaber?

May 28th, 2013 by bash Comments

A US Star Wars fan has created his very own lightsaber – albeit a mini one!

A YouTube video, by styropyro, who calls himself ‘The DIY Laser Guy’, shows the device cutting through paper, tape and cardboard – and even melting a ping pong ball.

“Here my BEAST 3000mW blue laser goes up against a bunch of flammable stuff,’ he said. “Most things light INSTANTLY when placed in the beam of this laser!

“This is the most powerful handheld laser that I’ve ever used! This laser uses the new 9mm 450nm laser diode and runs on two 18650 Li Ion batteries.”

‘The DIY Laser Guy’ has posted several videos of previous projects to the site, but said none were as close to the Star Wars weapon as this version.

“I usually try to refrain from using the term ‘lightsaber’ when referring to my lasers but there really isn’t much else out there to describe this laser,” he added.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
