Warner Bros. fast-tracks LEGO Batman spin-off movie starring Will Arnett!

October 11th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher 1 Comment

It seems that Batman will be getting a solo movie earlier than expected, well LEGO Batman that is. The LEGO Movie has grossed over $460 million worldwide, and now a Batman spino-off is being fast-tracked.

The LEGO movie sequel was set to be directed by the original film’s animation supervisor Chris McKay, but instead it’s being pushed back and McKay will now helm the Lego Batman movie, which is being written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter).

Will Arnett will reprise his LEGO movie role, as the voice of the Dark Knight. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are producing.

WB is said to be eyeing a 2017 release for the spinoff, possibly even on the original date for LEGO Movie 2 (May 26th, 2017).

The next LEGO movie to be released is Ninjago, set for Sept. 23, 2016. The LEGO Movie sequel will now presumably be released after 2017.
