Will new X-Men Movie embrace the past in more ways than one?

June 6th, 2012 by Marc Comments

One of our favourite superhero movies, not just recently, but ever, is X-Men: First Class and the signs may point to the sequel being pretty darn epic…

AICN are reporting that Fox have registered ‘Days of Future Past’ with the MPAA Title Registration Bureau as the title of the next X-Men movie.
The title may well refer to a storyline in the 80s where the timelines of future and present X-Men fold into each other to prevent the assasination of a US Senator who’s death could be a game-changer, not just to the X-Men, but the whole world.
So can we expect a Terminator-esque dark story?
Hard to know, but it’s nice to see that – because of Avengers, perhaps? – the movies will embrace the truly sci-fi storylines.
Will we see Jackman’s Wolverine return? The movie timeline is screwed up enough as it is, maybe this could be a chance to correct all the loose ends in the movie universe?
Whatever happens, we’re pretty excited for this one…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
