Are the Dinobots set for Transformers 4 as well as an old new enemy?

OK, so we know Michael Bay is directing Transformers 4 and yes, I know many of you don’t like his take on the mythology…

But I do. I’m an unashamed fan of all things TF, and yes, that includes Bay’s movies. So I love hearing the latest news about what, or who, we may see next.

Now the following rumours have been floating around since before the first movie came about and, like Unicron, there are a few things the fans really want to see… and, if JoBlo is to be believed, we may get to see one of the biggest – the Dinobots!

The guys at JoBlo claim this is from a reliable source, but do point out it is a rumour and should be treated as such… for now.

They write:  “Transformers 4 will feature none other than the famed Dinobots, including fan favorite Grimlock…  One of the villains of the film will be a character named Lockdown, who has a ship full of decommissioned Transformers, including the dinobots, which are somehow brought back to life by a captured Optimus Prime. Prime is joined by returning autobot Bumblebee and at one point both characters (and potentially others) will “ride” the Dinobots into battle in Hong Kong (which fits well within the announcement that the film would film partially in China), with Prime on Grimlock and Bumblebee on a Pterandon, presumably Swoop.”

Wait, ride the Dinobots?!

They go on: “Additionally, the autobot Hound will make his debut (he, along with Soundwave and Jazz, was one of my favourite characters) , as well as a former “Samurai” Decepticon that wants to regain his honor and become an Autobot (UPDATE: Source confirms this is Drift). And what about Megatron, who is presumed dead after the last film? Well, fans of Transformers: The Movie will be happy to know that not only will the dinobots be making their debut, but also Galvatron, who is basically Megatron “reborn” (and originally voiced by the first Spock, Leonard Nimoy).”

Sooooo… Dinobots and Galvatron, huh? We’ve been here before but we guess this could make sense… how long until we see Unicron we wonder? Especially since we’re hearing rumours that this could be the beginning of a new TF trilogy spanning a larger story?

TRANSFORMERS 4 hits cinemas on June 27, 2014.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
