What’s this a sequel to the Avengers?! Already?! Well, sort of…
Dubbed Item 47, the Avengers ‘sequel’ is a 12-minute short that will make its debut at SDCC next weekand and will be included on the Avengers DVD and Blu-ray release this September 25th.
Actor Maximiliano Hernández will appear as Agent Sitwell – a character he already played in Thor, the Avengers and the previous short The Consultant (clip below). This time out Sitwell and another SHIELD agent played Titus Welliver are tracking down a couple, Benny and Claire, played by Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield) and Jesse Bradford (Swimfan), who have a gun left behind by the Chitauri aliens at the end of Avengers – the gun is the ‘item 47′ of the title – and are using it to rob banks and the like.
Marvel exec Louis D’Esposito, reports EW, directed the short from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, who also wrote the screenplays for the two much shorter and less elaborate SHIELD-centric short films – A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer and The Consultant.
We can’t wait to see this and, along with the additional 35mins of Avengers goodness on the blu-ray/DVDs, we cannot wait for September!
