Batman movie reboot will focus on Batman: Year 2 and is due in 2016?

It looks like a Batman reboot might be hitting theatres sooner than you think, or may even be comfortable with.

The folks at Cosmic Book News are saying that Warner Brothers wants a new Batman on movie screens as soon as 2016. With a writer in place for an upcoming Justice League movie Warners is looking to capitalize on a shared movie universe similar to what Marvel has done with the Avengers, with Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill staying in the red cape for the JL movie and further Man of Steel sequels. This new Batman will also be a part of this new DC movie universe.

Even though it may seem to soon to reboot Batman given that Warners is making plenty of loot still off the current Batman run, this new reboot will avoid the mistake of re-telling Batman’s origin. We all know Thomas and Martha Wayne die. Instead this take will focus in on Batman’s second year in the cape and cowl and may be titled “The Batman”. All I have to say is, can we please get a Robin eventually? Though I love Nolan’s Batman run, he seriously downplayed the integral role Robin plays in Batman’s decision making and planning process.

No Robin! 3 good films without Robin (forget the end of Rises) is proof he isn’t needed!

We’ve had plenty of films without Robin, now’s the time for a sensible writer to jump on board and do a good version of Robin. Batman Forever was a good example of how to write Robin in a movie, Batman & Robin was utterly horrific!

In the comics Batman has stated how just having Robin by his side keeps him alive. Since he’s always taking a teen into battle with him he really has to make sure he thinks through every detail before heading into the fray. No Robin means Batman might have died a long time ago. I just loved that aspect and I’d like to see it portrayed on the screen. Plus I’ve just always loved Robin.
