Jurassic Park. That iconic movie where a group of people are left stranded on an island populated with very hungry dinosaurs. And its sequels where… the exact same thing happens. Twice. But in order to avoid this repetitive storyline, new ideas were thrown around for the fourth installment of the series. And some were pretty out there…
One idea for JP4 would have seen Vince Vaughn’s character from The Lost World, Nick van Owen, attempting to recover that lost can of shaving cream containing dino DNA from Isla Nublar - with the help of some bizzare Dino-Humanoid hybrid soldiers.
That’s not really what audiences would expect from a Jurassic Park movie, and ultimately the studio felt the same way, and binned the project. But these recently revealed concept art images show just how far this idea had gone before Universal scrapped it. A far more believeable storyline (well… believeable for a movie which will feature cloned Dinosaurs) is currently being drafted by Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, which is due for release in 2014/2015. Below are ILM’s Andrew Cawrse and concept artist Carlos Huante’s mock-ups for these strange Dino-Soldiers, what do you make of them?
