Bruce Campbell back to play Ash in a video game project…

August 28th, 2018 by Marc Comments

The whole thing about The Evil Dead is that the dead come back to life… but it seems that Ash Williams has more lives than that the zombie monsters he kills.

Because the legend that is Bruce Campbell is back as Ash Williams again! Hail to the king, baby!

Yes, Ash is back to star in a new Evil Dead Video Game. When asked about this previous announcement that he was retiring from the role:

Good people, Evil Dead fans everywhere, I bid you a heartfelt farewell playing Ash – the character I took acting lessons with for 39 years.

I am hereby retiring from that portrayal. It’s time. I followed Ash from his formative years thru his mid-life crisis and decline. What a thrill! What a privilege!

We had a great resurgence with the help of Starz (kudos not jeers, folks). They made it possible for 15 more hours of Evil Dead-ness in your life – the equivalent of 10 more features!

Is Ash dead? Never. Ash is as much a concept as a person. Where there is evil in this world, there must be one to counter – man or woman, it matters not.

Thanks for watching.

Love,

Bruce

But, but, but… isn’t he still coming back to play Ash? Isn’t that going back on the deal?

“Oh no no, that’s different,” Bruce said, “I have previous obligations I have to fulfill. They are doing a video game. A whole immersive kind of dealio. I’ll be Ash for that, because I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”

Word is that the game may be virtual reality, but we’ll keep you posted.

But we’re just cool with Ash returning… and perhaps we’ll see the cliff hanger from Ash Vs Evil Dead resolved some day.

Thoughts?

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
