Coby Smulders returns as Maria Hill in Winter Soldier

October 30th, 2012 by Marc Comments

It has been confirmed that SHIELD will be out in full force in the sequel to Captain America…

Yes, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury & Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will return and now, added to the list, is Coby Smulder’s rather, em, fetching Maria Hill.

Yes, with Frank Grillo now confirmed as Crossbones (we ran the original story here), it has now been confirmed that Maria Hill will feature in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We’re wondering if it is in fact Smulders who’ll replace the shoes left by Agent Phil Coulson… oh, wait, Coulson may not be dead at all.

It has also been confirmed by Variety that Black Widow will feature heavily in the movie and another female lead role is currently casting.

The Winter Soldier will most likely follow on from the comicbook story which chronicles a very dark part of Captain America’s history SPOILER ALERT when his best friend Bucky seemingly returns from the dead as a terrorist SPOILER END. Given the host of characters confirmed in the movie that don’t feature in the comics we can assume the story will vary considerably while maintaining the bare bones, but as always we won’t really know until August 1, 2014.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
