We ran the story before the weekend that we won’t be seeing another Hulk movie until after Avengers 2 (here), but now Marvel movie chief Kevin Feige has been talking about just what that movie may be…
Feige was talking to MTV about how the studio would really like to bring some of Hulk’s big comic adventures to the big screen, and quite excitingly, he also pointed out they are thinking outside the stories penned by Stan Lee.
Feige teased that Planet Hulk and World War Hulk are ‘cool’ stories.
For those who don’t know, Planet Hulk was written by Greg Pak in 2006 and sees the world’s superheroes deciding Hulk is far too dangerous, so they strand him on an alien world where he becomes a slave and a gladiator fighting to stay alive.
In the sequel series, World War Hulk, Hulk escapes his slavery and returns to earth looking for revenge against those who out cast him.
Would these stories work in the new Marvel movie-verse? Well, if you’d asked us when Iron Man was released, we’d have said no way; but now that we have alien hoards, Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy coming? Hell, yes these would work. And with Mark Ruffalo being the best Hulk ever commited to film – admittedly under Joss Wedon’s genius – we’d love to see Hulk take on a story this big, rather than the running from soldiers stories we’ve gotten pre-Avengers.
Hulk is still widely seen as a mindless monster, it’s time that was changed…
