Could there be a Marvel villains team up movie coming?

July 27th, 2014 by Marc 2 Comments

For as long as there’s been an Avengers movie, we at FTN have wanted to see a team-up of the supervillains too… something to really give the heroes a challenge.

Not it seems it may not be that impossible…

James Gunn is almost certainly on to a good thing with Guardians of the Galaxy (our review) and he’s just it looks like he’s going to helm the second one too (here)… but what might he do after that? Well…

Talking to Screenrant via Cinemablend, Gunn was asked what he’d like to do next: “I was saying to Kevin [Feige], we were sitting on set together on one of the days he visited and I said, ‘You know, I really want to make Thunderbolts,’ and he said, ‘James, if Guardians does well you’ll be able to do whatever you want so we’ll see what happens. “

In the comics the Thunderbolts were a group of reformed bad guys who basically filled in when the heroes were off saving the universe. And it might be a fun angle for the Marvel movies – imagine Loki, Red Skull, Arnim Zola, Samuel Stern – The Leader – Justin Hammer and maybe even the Mandarin or Ultron all teaming up to take on the Avengers… now that would be a movie worth seeing.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
