We’re big fans of the Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movies. Seriously. We love them, so to say we’re excited about this is an understatelment.
Dubbed the third in the ‘cornetto trilogy’, The World’s End has been coming for a long time, but very little was known about the actual plot. But now information is starting to leak out..
As well as Frost and Pegg, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan have now joined the cast. The story itself sees a bunch of school mates reunited after 20 years to go on a pub crawl, however on the fateful night, the world begind to end around them…
Press release: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Bleeding Cool have been sharing the various Twitter feeds related to the movie. First off, actor Thomas Matthews tweeted: “1st day filming The World’s End – suitably heading for Zone 8….Have no idea what I’ll be asked to do but everyone else learning dance routine. Exciting.” But there’s a bit of an interesting twist.
Actress Courtney: “just had a wardrobe fitting for The World’s End #dancingzombie #simonpegg…just waiting to hear where and what time this zombie is required on set…All geared up to be a dancing zombie. Filming the World’s End this week #cornetto.” And finally: “My new book title “from cat in the hat to zombie” a mother’s tail. (I was cat in the hat for halloween and now filming as zombie)”
Does this mean the Shaun of the Dead zombies are back? Is Wright putting a musical number in? We know he’s a fan of musicals, so this could be true. How will it fit in to the story? We have no idea, but we’re kind of in love with the idea of dancing zombies… especially when handled by Wright.
So what else do we know? Well it’s confirmed that Attack The Block composer Steven Price is on scoring duties… as news breaks, we’ll bring it to you. Promise.
