Everyone’s so busy talking about the superheroes in Captain America: Civil War that it’s easy to forget there are villains in the mix too. Daniel Bruhl (Rush) is playing Baron Zemo and although his involvement in the movie has been heavily guarded, Entertainment Weekly has revealed the character for the very first time.

He’s not donning his iconic costume here, yes, but it’s our first look at Bruhl full-stop. Check out the image below, showing a rather tense Baron Zemo in what looks to be some form of meeting.

Brühl recently gave an interview to Total Film where he said his character was responsible for a lot of conflict in the movie and that his character orchestrates events throughout the film.

He explained: “Yes, but what I like is it’s not a stereotype. It’s not a guy who’s mean and sinister, but he’s actually very clever – a very smart guy who does everything out of a very understandable reason and motivation.”

Here’s what Zemo looks like in the comics in his costume.

Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
