Production Weekly has posted a brief description of the plot to the forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy, and it may have implications that will span the entire Marvel Movie Universe.
The movie will be “About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.”
The only character I could think of as the pilot would be the Star-Lord himself Peter Quill. The folks at Latino Review are surmising that the “something everybody wants” would be either the Infinity Gauntlet or the gems that power the gauntlet, the Infinity Gems. This would make sense given that we know the big bad the Avengers will be facing is Thanos, the titan who wields the Infinity Gauntlet. Could this mean a crossover where we see some Avengers or Nick Fury also showing up in the GoG movie?
I’ve never really read a lot of GoG comics, but their turn in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes had me excited to see Rocket Raccoon come to life. Who doesn’t love a small character who cracks wise and carries huge guns?! He sort of reminds me of Narnia’s Reepicheep, only cooler, because he has huge guns instead of a sword.
