Hold on, did Stan Lee confirm the Black Panther movie is coming?

Could the masked Wakandan hero be headed for the movies after all?

While appearing at Fan Expo Canada, Stan Lee answered a question about whether Black Widow would be getting her own movie but he took the answer a bit further, saying:

“We haven’t made a Black Widow movie but she’s been in some of our movies, and she will be featured more prominently as we move forward. And the chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Dr Strange and the Black Panther and there are others I am not allowed to talk about.”

It’s interesting that Lee mentioned Black Panther alongside Dr Strange and Ant-Man, since they have both been officially announced and pre-production has been going on for some time. Having Black Panther as a film Stan Lee feels he can talk about is strange, but next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron has been repeatedly linked to the Panther’s home nation of Wakanda. Therefore there is a good chance that Black Panther could be the next Phase 3 film Marvel announce as being in production.

The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
