Iron Sky gets trailer, premiere details and European release dates

January 26th, 2012 by Marc Comments

Some us at FTN have been following the creation of Iron Sky since it was first conceived in 2006 when director Timo Vuorensola and a group of friends found two years of time and money to create a trailer for a movie, Iron Sky, that didn’t exist.

Now we finally get the full official movie trailer… awesome! Nazis! On the moon! With flying saucers! We can’t wait until, well we’re not sure yet, but it opens  in Finland on April 4th, and Germany on the 5th. We still have no news on dates here, but fingers crossed… we waited this long.

Here’s the offcial synopsis:

“Towards the end of World War II the Nazi scientists made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.

Now it’s 2018, and it’s the time for the first American Moon landing since the 70s. Meanwhile the Nazi invasion, that has been over 70 years in the making, is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom.”

Iron Sky will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on 11 February! It is part of the official selection at Berlinale in the Panorama section, which screens films that push the envelope. Hope they get a good reception… here’s the trailer. Squeee!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
