Is FOX Going To Pull From a classic comic arc for X-Men: First Class Sequel?

July 29th, 2012 by Christopher Williams Comments

Russian film site Film Business Today is reporting that the next X movie will be subtitled Days Of Future Past. Now I can’t read Russian so I can’t confirm it, but the folks at are running with it. I have to say, that would be really cool, a bit ambitious, but really cool.

For those unfamiliar with the 1981 Chris Claremont story arc, Days takes us to a dystopian future where mutants are hunted down and kept in interment camps. A future Kitty Pryde uses the psychic powers of Rachel Grey to transfer her mind to a present day Kitty who gets the X-Men to stop a fatal event which causes that anti-mutant hysteria responsible for the dystopian future.

It was a great story and, along with the Dark Phoenix Saga, was responsible for the popular rise of the X-Men. It was also adapted for TV in the 90’s during the run of the awesome X-Men:The Animated Series. There’s no word yet if the movie will pull directly from the comics storyline or if they are just borrowing the title, time will tell on that one.

Shooting for the X sequel will begin in January of 2013 with a release date of July 18, 2014.
