We all know there are issues over money and other things at Marvel/Disney right now, with the Avengers actors not happy over a few things, most principal of which is money.
And, to be fair, like a car crash, we’ve been waiting to see who the victims will be, with the safe money on Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson all frontrunners with money and intense training cited as reasons. However, today it looks like someone else is set to leave, someone who’s name was barely even mentioned previously.
Yes, online rumours are abound that Jeremey Renner, Hawkeye, will not be part of Avengers Phase II and may be recast or killed off.
According to CBM the reason isn’t money, but rather something he said some time ago, after Avengers was released.
If you cast your mind back, you’ll recall that Hawkeye was enslaved by Loki in the first half of the Avengers and spent much of the movie as a bad guy/zombie. But this didn’t please Renner: “For 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play. It’s kind of a vacancy. [He’s] not even a bad guy, because there’s not really a consciousness to him.”
Well, it seems Marvel weren’t impressed with him badmouthing his role – you might remember Hugo Weaving and Mickey Rourke fell victim to this too – and some people have noticed that the entire SHIELD team are back for Captain America: The Winter Soldier but Renner isn’t.
Some rumours are even hinting that he may be recast and that Hawkeye may even pop up in Agents Of SHIELD.
This is all speculation at the moment, but one is for sure, there may yet be casualties in the Avengers team, bith on and off screen…
