James Franco out of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes?

December 21st, 2012 by Owen Quinn Comments

In what can only be described as a surprise, it looks like James Franco may not be doing any more monkeying around…

It has been reported that actor James Franco will not be appearing in the new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

When asked about it, Franco said that when Rupert Wyatt was in line to direct the sequel to their smash hit reimagining, there was a scene where Franco’s character would feature him and Caesar, a small one that would possibly have been a video. Franco says that it would most likely have been a video tape scene left behind from when Caesar was in his care.

This implies the next movie will be apocalyptic, given the final scene of the Planet of the Apes that saw the beginnings of the virus that will decimate the human population and allow the ape legacy to take over. But now that Wyatt is no longer directing the sequel, Franco is of the opinion that scene will be lost and he will not now be featuring in it all. This is a shame as the relationship between him and Caesar was integral to the first movie.

Dawn will be released in May 2014.
