It’s been something that the Marvel fans have wanted for years and, in fairness, something that seemed like it was a little closer when Spider-man came into the MCU from Sony.
Yes, the dream that we might someday see Wolverine fighting Hulk or the Fantastic Four helping Tony Stark fight an intergalactic threat, but sadly with so many of Marvel’s property’s owned by other studios, we’ve pretty much given up on that dream.
And while Daredevil and Ghost Rider are now back with Marvel and rumour is so is Namor, we still put the idea of Avengers and X-men ever meeting onscreen to the back of our heads.
But now Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has talked about maybe someday working out a way to bring them all home.
Speaking to Jeremy Lasky, co-founder of Perception, the animation and deign studio responsible for most of the technology animation in Marvel Studios films, as well as the studio’s recent logo redesign, Feige said: “My goal is to replicate the experience that, you know, comic book fans have reading the books up on the screen and we’ve been able to accomplish that beyond my wildest dreams over the last ten years.”
It seems that, while Feige has always been standoffish about this particular topic, the deal with Sony to get Spider-man into the MCU has made him think there might be a way to make it happen: “Spidey in Civil War and in the upcoming Infinity War is yet another dream that I didn’t even dare to talk about publicly because I thought the odds of it were very slim.
“So, no plans beyond that right now for any of the few remaining characters that aren’t already in the MCU, but I always say ‘never say never,’ who knows what can happen in the future?”
Who knows indeed. All we know is that with X-Men currently working on a new younger cast and shows like The Gifted being co-produced with Marvel, perhaps things are moving behind the scenes… not to mention THAT scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 with Stan Lee (confused? Read here)… we can but hope.
What say you all?
