Ok, so, Man of Steel came out in 2012, and it was a hit by every standard put in front of it. So naturally, people expected a sequel. Then news came that the next DC cinematic universe film would be Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and that there would be more on the way. The slate was revealed, and there was no Man of Steel 2, or a solo Superman film in other words. Fans wondered (and are still wondering) “where is Man of Steel 2?” Well, as Zack Snyder told Canoe, we’re already getting it, it’s Batman v Superman.
“I think in a way ‘Batman v Superman’ is ‘Man of Steel 2,’” said Snyder. “‘Justice League’ is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”
He then went into further detail about what separates the two:
“We really have to figure out the why of them, and I think that we have,” muses Zack Snyder of the twin Justice League films he’s helming next. “That’s the one thing that’s cool to me about ‘Batman v Superman,’ it’s all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that’s compelling.”
So Man of Steel 2 already exists in a way, though there is rumors that a second Superman solo film is underway. What do you think of all this?
