Marc Webb confirms Mary Jane actress and new suit details for Amazing Spider-man 2

November 13th, 2012 by Marc Comments

Speaking personally, Amazing Spider-man was a highlight this summer. I know it caused some debate here at FTN towers, but I’m sticking to my guns.

So I’m pretty stoked for the second part of the trilogy (loads of sequel details here, including who’ll play Electro). And I always love this part where rumour and fact become fun…

Director of the first movie and the sequel (and probably the third) Marc Webb has been Tweeting about the sequel and has given us a cryptic clue about the new suit we’ve heard about: “Bigger eyes. Gnarly web shooters”. We spoke to Todd McFarlane about Spider-man’s big eyes and how he played a big part in that last week (here), so we’re hoping the eyes will really be part of the character this time, though I really liked the costume first-time round. We aren’t sure what gnarly means though, sorry.

And furthermore, Webb has now confirmed the long-rumoured casting of Shailene Woodley (left) as Mary-Jane Watson. Now we loved her in The Descendants but as yet can’t see her in the role yet – actually, on looking at that image again we’re starting to see it - that said, everything in the first movie worked, so who are we to argue? Webb Tweeted about her: “She’s the jam – lover her, look forward to working with her in ASM2.” Em, ok then.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out on May 2nd, 2014

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
