Marc Webb talks about Spider-man sequel and confirms Jamie Foxx is Electro

November 2nd, 2012 by Marc Comments

Hmmmmm…. so Jamie Foxx is Electro? A great bit of casting, but that raises the question, who was that in the cell at the end of the first movie?

Collider sat down with The Amazing Spider-man director Marc Webb and he has confirmed that Jamie Foxx will play the main villain this time around as Spidey tackles Electro.

Indeed, Foxx himself tweeted: “Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.” Whether the movie sticks to the comic origins of villain Max Dillon, who can control electricity after he is struck by lightening, is not yet confirmed.

Webb, at the launch of the first movie on Blu-ray said: “What’s exciting about moving forward is that, in the first movie, I had to still honor some of the important elements of the origin story. But I also wanted to redefine the context of it because I’m building a different universe than what we’ve seen before. A lot of the nuance is quite different. Now, as we’re approaching the sequel, it’s really exciting because I feel quite liberated. I have a universe that’s my own. I don’t have an obligation to the origin story. It’s pretty fun and exciting and I can dig deeper into the parents.”

The video below features Webb talking a little more indepth about the sequel and what it will involve and confirms this will be a trilogy of movies that revolves around the central story of who Peter’s parents were. He talks about how Oscorp is also very important to the story and that we can expect to see a new Spidey suits too. We’ll not spoil it all for you, so enjoy. We at FTN towers had a blast with the first movie and can’t wait for this…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
