Mark Millar: ‘Kick-Ass 2 filming this summer along with American Jesus…’

February 20th, 2012 by Marc Comments

Writer of Kick-Ass (the comic book) and general comic-book God Mark Millar has been talking to The Daily Record and announced, quite casually that: “We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer”.
Sorry Mark, go back a bit there… what?!
The original 2010 movie was a great hit with fans and sadly the sequel seems to have been stuck in limbo ever since, and while cast and director – Matthew Vaughn – all seemed keen enough, no commitment was ever made. So, if it shoots this summer it makes sense that cast and crew are prepped and ready to go… so how have we heard nothing. Could Millar be having a chuckle?
The also mentioned American Jesus is Millar’s modern day take on the story of Christ, where a 12-year-old boy finds out he’s the reincarnated Jesus. While the book is, always from Millar, great, we’d be expecting a religious backlash – remember Dogma?
No matter what happens, we’re keen to see it… but with Kick Ass 2 we’re positively giddy…

We’ll let you savour how great a sequel would be while watching the original trailer:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
