More titles added to sequel mania.. is Hollywood bankrupt of new ideas?

We all love a good sequel but with the spate of sequels, reboots and remakes we really think there’s no new ideas in Hollywood. Here’s the latest two:

We all know Thor and Captain America sequels are going ahead full steam with a possible Batman reboot, but now both The Amazing Spiderman and Men in Black have been greenlit for sequels.
Men in Black 3 grossed over $615 dollars worldwide and Spiderman has made bosses enough to go again – hopefully with director Marc Webb at the helm once more.
This hasn’t been confirmed due to other contractual obligations but signs are healthy. Now the rumour mill has started as to who Spidey will face next- the Vulture, anyone? Or perhaps they could do Venom properly this time round.

Marvel need to slow down a little bit, they are going to burn out very quickly, and put a dampner on any other type of project in the long run. Marvel films have been good, sometimes very good, but not iconic….I also think that some massively hyped films have crashed and burned pretty badly because of lazy script writing. Films makers are too quick to decide on sequels wothout actually seeing the impact (if any) the first in the series makes.
