MOVIE ROUND-UP: Reynolds off Highlander, Prometheus 2 and Logan’s Run have writers, A Dame To Kill For delayed, Expo posters for 24, Godzilla, Ghostbusters and more

June 18th, 2013 by Marc Comments

Ok, busy news day today folks, so we thought we’d throw together a news roundup something like we used to do. Sitting comfortably? Good, then here we go…

The Wrap has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds if off the Highlander reboot/rehash/reimagining/rewhatever, leaving Summit Entertainment with an idea but no actor, director or hope at getting it done. Part of us is quite happy. Our bad?

Prometheus 2

Prometheus 2, despite a few weeks ago it looking like there was no direction or writer for the sequel, has now got a writer. Now, according to aintitcool, 20th Century Fox are looking to Jack Paglen to write it. Apparently Ridley Scott likes Paglen’s idea for the sequel and has given it the go ahead.

Paglen is still a relative unknown with only Wally Pfister’s upcoming and little known about Transcendence under his belt. But we must assume he’s a new voice to be reckoned with

Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For

Bad news for you Sin City fans tonight as it has just been announced that the sequel has been delayed by ten months. Apparently the problem is with the special effects and not the script, acting etc. Phew.

This Tweet was the news breaker:

Logan’s Run

Ken Levine, co-founder of Irrational Games and creater of the Bioshock franchise, is Warner Bros choice to script the remake of Logan’s Run.

Aintitcool are reporting: In a 2008 interview with Eurogamer, Levine cited the 1976 LOGAN’S RUN as an artistic inspiration for Bioshock.

Given the quality of the Bioshock games and the story telling, we can only assume this is good news all round…

Licensing Expo 2013

Finally, Licensing Expo 2013 is going on in Vegas as I type/you read and there are new posters for several up and coming movies we here at FTN are excited about… but the one that’s got me the most excited is that Ghostbusters one… what is the plan? 3D? GB3? A new series? Come on guys! Give us something… maybe after the Expo. Watch this space for news as we get it. Posters courtesy of Coming Soon.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
