So when DC Comics and Warner Bros. revealed their slate of upcoming movies for the next six years there were three curious omissions. First off, where were the Batman and Superman solo films? DC answered by saying that they were in development, but no release dates had been scheduled yet.
The second omission was for Sandman. A film that had only recently gotten back on track and was confirmed to be releasing soon. So what’s the deal? Well, the creator of Sandman, Neil Gaiman, offered an explanation that is very true and concise.
“It’s not a DC Comics film,” The Sandman creator Neil Gaiman wrote on his blog. “It’s a Vertigo film. That’s a different slate of films, and a different announcement.”
Some may note that Gaiman said “different slate of films”. Which could imply other Vertigo titles are on the way. Would this be something you want? If so, which ones would you like to see on film? Let us know!
