Paul Feig clears up the Ghostbusters Proton Pack issue and is this the first ghost from the movie?

So, with the Ghostbusters from Paul Feig’s reboot being in Boston and visiting sick children (here), we pointed out that the proton packs they were wearing were clearly different than the ones we had been shown a while back (here).

Some fans took this a little personally (shocker!), while we speculated that perhaps, at some point in the movie, the team get upgraded packs, it seems that we were wrong and also that the fans have nothing to worry about.

Feig, getting a bit of grief over the new packs, tweeted (below) that the packs they wore above were only prototypes and all is good.

Now, while this is possible, we wonder why the actresses were wearing prototypes when they visited the children? We actually don’t think it’s too likely.

But, hey, what do we know?

In related news, several places are reporting that this actress, Chaunty Spillane, is cast as a ghost in the movie and will be called the Showgirl Ghost; reports also suggest that the effects will be largely practical on the spooks. We get an Eleanor Tweedy sort of vibe off her… that’s the library ghost, folks… what about you all?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
