Robert Downey Jnr is open to doing Iron Man 4

July 23rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

With Robert Downey Jnr announced as the world’s highest paid actor for the second year in a row (here) it would be fair to assume he has some pull in the movie industry now, especially with Marvel… but we have to wonder if this means he can make Iron Man 4 happen or not…

See the thing is, Marvel has always said a fourth movie is (probably) going to happen – they see Iron Man as their James Bond – but the question was always if it will star Robert Downey Jnr or not.

Now EW have caught up with the actor on the set of Age Of Ultron and the topic arose and RDJ was rather cagey but pretty positive too:  “It’s down to Kevin [Feige,] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.”

However, he seems to know that, while things are going from strength to strength right now, no-one is untouchable: “Right now, this has just been swell, hasn’t it? It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” he says—then adds a caveat. “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.”

But before you start celebrating in the streets, he finishes with “The future is, as usual, uncertain.”

Personally, I think it’s a cert to happen at some point… phase three wouldn’t feel right without Iron Man leading the charge, now would it?

Let us know if you want another Iron Man or if three is enough or maybe you feel RDJ is too old? We want to hear below, @NerdFollowing or on our Facebook

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
