So, Sony Pictures have just revealed their release schedule for 2016 and 2017 and, we’ll not lie, there’s a lot of interesting stuff in there.

And, while everyone seems to be getting excited for Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4 – we know, right? – and Unchartered, not to mention a Jumanji remake (no, nothing is sacred), there’s also a new date for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters and dates for franchise continuing movies such as  Underworld 5 and Resident Evil 6.

And while these all (the full list is below) are ranging from exciting to interesting, we’ll not lie, it’s the confirmation that the first movie in The Dark Tower series is coming in January 2017… yes, Stephen King’s greatest work, the tale of Roland the last gunslinger, finally has a release date!

It’s also worth noting that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s animated Spider-Man film on July 20, 2018 is out almost a year (to the date) after Sony and Marvel’s live action movie.

So, while you process all this, we’ve got the full dates below.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
