Star Trek 2 gets title confirmed and it is…

September 8th, 2012 by Marc Comments

We at FTN really, really liked JJ Abram’s Star Trek reboot. It was fun, cool and exciting. Everything Star Trek should be. It’s worth noting Marc’s writing this, and I’m not a trekkie. At all.

So despite myself, I’m rather looking forward to the sequel – the only other Trek movie I looked forward to was Insurrection because it had the Phantom Menace trailer on it; we’ll talk of it no more – if Abrams can maintain the pacing and cracking dialogue from the first movie – seriously, who didn’t love Karl Urban as Bones? – then I’ll be a happy customer.

Now, the website TrekMovie are announcing they have confirmed from several sources that the title of the new movie is Star Trek: The Empire Strikes Back. No, only kidding, it’s Star Trek: Into Darkness.

It’s hard to know how we feel about this at this stage, but it certainly seems to inply that after the light-hearted touch of the first movie, darker things are coming… Wrath of Khan dark? Hard to know, but on May 17 2013 we’ll be sitting in the front row finding out…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
