As news about the future of Lucasfilm and Star Wars continues to grease the rumour mills, we step back, clear our heads and give you the latest round-up
IT would appear that the director of the eagerly awaited new Star Wars film could be announced soon. While every director in Hollywood seems to be ruling themselves out of the running from Tarantino, Abrams, Spielberg and even the leftfield choice of Sam Mendes all saying thanks but no thanks when asked by the media, it seems that the force is strong with not one but two candidates.
Frank Marshall, a longtime Lucasfilm alumni, claims that the shortlist is down to two names according to the empire podcast. There was no further indication as to who it might be but we did post earlier in the week that Colin Treverrow had the gig. Time will tell.
Kathleen Kennedy has told Entertainment Weekly that she palns for the company to produce “two or three films a year.”
Bt what does this mean? Well, obviously it won’t be Star Wars alone so it seems that the Indiana Jones 5 rumours may be firng up again, are we set for another Howard the Duck? Labyrinth? New ideas? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, Lucasfilm are going to busy under the house of Mouse…
