Stephen King’s 46th movie, A Good Marriage, gets a new poster

August 22nd, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Stephen King is one of the masters of horror fiction but the track record of the conversion of his books into movies has ventured from the sublime (Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’, ‘The Green Mile’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and ‘1408’) to mediocre affair (Frank Daravont’s ‘The Mist’ and Dreamcatcher), to downright monstrosities (King’s own version of ‘The Shining’)

However, King has been back on form in recent years with Doctor Sleep, JoyLand, and Mr Mercedes – which is about a retired policeman being taunted by a murderer – and Revival – about a troubled musician making a pact beyond even the Devil’s devising. So, no doubt producers will be trying to rack up the rights to some of his better books of late.

It’s hard to believe that this is King’s 46th movie release – taking into account his whole body of work ranging from TV movies to Cinematic releases. The poster for his new film based on his short story A Good Marriage is definitely generating buzz throughout the horror-sphere.

The film is based on a Stephen King short story in the book Full Dark, No Stars and the premise is based on the character Darcy, who discovers her husband has a sinister secret after 25 years of a good marriage and what she will be forced to do once she discovers her husband’s sinister secret. It movie stars Anthony LaPaglia, Kristen Connolly, Joan Allen and Stephen Lang and was directed by Peter Askin of ‘Trumbo’ fame.

A Good Marriage is in US cinemas 3 October 2014.
