Thor: The Dark World filming at Stonehenge?

August 30th, 2012 by Owen Quinn Comments

The Marvel movie train thunders on and we’re happy to let it… location news for Thor 2!

Reports are coming through that Stonehenge will feature in the Thor sequel Dark Underworld although it is not clear whether it will be actual location work or a specially built set although at this point location filming seems likely.

The last show to film there was Doctor Who for the Pandorica Opens and they were allowed a certain time limit and days to actually film due to the historical nature of the site. But then who can refuse the Doctor?

Stonehenge has always been a place of mystical speculation and would fit the Asgardian legend perfectly as a portal of some sort possibly. And given you can see Stonehenge from the motorway, you may be seeing  Thor being filmed if you’re driving past. Stand by for a YouTube meltdown. And given Christopher Eccleston is in the cast, the Doctor may be making a return to the site albeit in another form.
