Toby Kebbell Reveals Doctor Doom’s New Origin in Fantastic Four

November 11th, 2014 by Andrew McCarroll 2 Comments

Having already run the Fantastic Four into the ground once before. Fox now seem determined to do it again a second time. Taking the well-trod path to superhero movie failure already taken by movies like Catwoman and Batman & Robin, by completely ignoring the source material.

Toby Kebbell (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) who is set to play Doctor Doom in the new Fantastic Four film recently gave away some details about his portrayal of the ruler of Latveria

“He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”.

Kebbell also spoke of the voice and teased that the character may now be American.

“ I’m excited to see it too, and my nerves really…The only thing I can tease you about is what I worked on most was the voice because nobody—even in the cartoons, when I was watching them I was like, “So where’s he from?” There’s a mild change and I’ll tell you because of our history.”

The star also praised Director Josh Trank (Chronicle) “Yeah, it was cool man. Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real. It was just nice to do that. It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident.”

Everything that has been leaked from the set and its actors so far sounds horrendous. What is keeping my interest piqued is Trank’s debut movie Chronicle was fantastic (sorry) and with Fox already having green lit a sequel based on early footage not to mention Trank has also been snapped up to direct a Star Wars spin off. This could potentially be next summer’s dark horse.

Fantastic Four arrives in cinemas 6th August 2015. A sequel is already scheduled for 2017.

Now retired from slaying spooks, he spends his time obsessing over superheroes (especially Batman) and devouring shows like Dexter, Game of Thrones and Archer in a manner that would make Galactus proud.
