UK top ten box office countdown (WE 22 May 2013)

May 30th, 2013 by Stuart Miller Comments

Last week’s number one Fast and Furious 6 wasn’t fast or furious enough to hold on to the top spot for more than one week as it had stiff competition from two new big films and one of them managed to take its place.

Three new films went into the top ten, first off going in at a surprising number seven was small British horror film The Moth Diaries. Into the top three and at number three was animated film Epic which hasn’t done as well as expected. This week’s highest new entry went to the final outing for the wolfpack in The Hangover Part III, like the release in the US the film has really under performed: the second film in the series managed to take more than £10 million in its opening weekend while part III only managed to take just under £6 million.

New Releases – It’s another one of those small weeks for new releases, just enough time for you to take a deep breath before the big releases surface again. So the films on offer this week are comedy movie The Big Wedding, thriller The Purge and new horror film from Neil Jordan, Byzantium.
