September 18th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It was a bit obvious that Sex Tape couldn’t hold on to the top spot for another week and that is the case as animated adventure The Boxtrolls has gone and taken its place at the top of the chart and was the only film to take over £1 million this week.

Other new films in this week’s chart included a drama thriller starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman in A Most Wanted Mind and British drama comedy centring around the mining community during the mining strike, Pride which went in at number three.

Upcoming – Not a huge week for new releases this week, however a lot of smaller films will be trying to chip away at next week’s chart, so on offer is thriller starring Liam Neeson in A Walk Among the Tombstones, British drama The Riot Club, another movie that is trying to take the Hunger Games crown in The Giver and the latest comedy drama from Woody Allen in Magic in the Moonlight.

Finally something has happened in the US chart to stop the downfall that has been going on for the last few weeks, despite the combined takings off all of the top ten films not reaching over the $100 million mark there was still a little bit of a shake up in the chart.
