WATCH: First very nasty look at the Evil Dead remake

October 16th, 2012 by Marc 2 Comments

It’s another sacrilegious remake of a classic, but this one really looks like it may have done it right…

Here is the leaked footage of director Fede Alvarez’s remake of The Evil Dead from New York Comic CON.

the remake stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas and Bruce Campbell, and, according to the official synopsis: “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

In our opinion this looks pretty hardcore – the sort of movie that hasn’t been made since, well the first Evil Dead. It’s scary, dark, and gritty. It feels so much like the original that we’re almost wondering why they bothered, but our interest is certainly raised now…

The Evil Dead opens on April 12, 2013.

VERY NSFW. You have been warned…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
