War Room from Privateer Press tentative release date July 9

Privateer Press have announced yet more delays for their Warmachine / Hordes app.

Here’s what they said:

We are very excited about War Room and are eager to bring it to you as soon as possible. As the app has moved through its development cycle, though, we’ve run into more than a few time-consuming surprises, and we’ve found several places where we could make War Room even better. As anxious as we are to bring War Room to you, we just don’t want to pass on any opportunity to make improvements to the app. We believe that it’s more important to make War Room as good as it can be before it releases than it is to rush it out and patch it later. As a result, we are now anticipating a July 9 release date for War Room.

We have been making the most of the extra development time to polish the app. The biggest change is a complete overhaul of the user interface. As you can see in the images below, the initial design looks cool, but after testing we saw an opportunity to streamline the interface into a cleaner, faster, more intuitive design.

Dream Pod 9 May releases.

May New Release: Sapeur Heavy Engineering Gear by Dream Pod 9

Heres what they have to say:

The first new release for May is the Sapeur Heavy Engineering Gear (DP9-9246, $20.75). This massive Gear is designed to support mining and other engineering tasks, but the design can be be equipped as a crowd-pleasing Arena duelist or pushed into support rules with County Militia forces as detailed in Perfect Storm: Nucoal Field Guide. A distinctive feature of the Sapeur is the massive reinforced tool arms that can be used to grapple and drill into opponents.

The left Sapeur Heavy Engineering Gear is prepared for the Arena with additional melee weapons and a crowd-pleasing paint job, while it’s partner is in a more practical high-visibility paint scheme common among Gears used for mining and engineering tasks. Many County Militias may press these Gears into service in times of need, and there’ no time to repaint in camouflage paint schemes.

The Duelist model designed for arena combat with added chain sword and spiked shield.

The County Militia version has less additional equipment, but still has massive shoulder-mounted tool arms with a grasper and drill:

The Sapeur Heavy Engineering Gear ships on Thursday, May 24, 2012 to retailers and through our Online Store. More May new releases will be announced when available!

I'm Mad Dave one of the team's growing collection of tabletop gaming nerds. I was raised on a healthy diet of TV like Blake 7, Doctor Who and Star Trek with a side of sword and sorcery / sc-fi movies and a large dollop of board games like Cluedo, RISK and Hero Quest. You know your a gaming nerd if: You bring toy soldiers to work? You bring toy soldiers to work and you work has nothing to do with toy soldiers? Most of you jackets / coats have dice in one of the pockets? You hate throwing away packaging because you know it's actually a ruined building or field generator? You have a collection of old packaging? You can find something relevant to your hobby i.e. books, magazines, figures etc in almost every room in your house? I no I'm a nerd because I've done all of the above, how many of these made you smile and nod yes to?
