Gentle Giant unveils two new Star Wars items for early 2014

June 20th, 2013 by Amy Williams Comments

The Gentle Giant team have unveiled two new Star Wars items in their June solicitations this week and they are now available to pre-order for February 2014. The two collectables unveiled are a jumbo Han Solo figure in his Hoth outfit and a pair of imperial seal bookends.

The Han Solo figure is the latest edition to their range of 12 inch jumbo vintage style figures and depicts Han in his Hoth outfit. He is the first of their figurines from the Battle of Hoth and we are assured that more Hoth themed figures are on their way. Just like the vintage ranges only bigger, the figure has been injection moulded and made of durable plastic. The figure is fully articulated and also includes a blaster. It’s packaged on a 1979 Empire Strikes Back inspired blister card with a re-sealable plastic shell. The figure will retail between £50 and £55 and will be a big hit with fans of Gentle Giant’s other vintage figures and Star Wars fans alike.

The second item unveiled this week is a pair of Imperial Seal bookends, now you can hallmark your favourite novels, dvds or cds with the important symbol of Imperial Bureaucracy. These limited edition hand-painted bookends come individually numbered and with a certificate of authenticity. These bookends are a nice item for a die- hard collector but personally I would have liked to have seen the Imperial seal on one side and the Rebel seal on the other side so I wouldn’t feel so bad about separating them.

Although it is a nice item, I cannot see people clambering over this item unlike the Han Solo Hoth Figure especially as these will retail for £69.99.

Both items can be pre-ordered from Forbidden Planet in the UK and Gentle Giant in the USA.
