Sideshow Collectibles unveil new tooned- up Vampirella Maquette

June 22nd, 2013 by Amy Williams Comments

Sideshow collectibles have unveiled their new newest product, a tooned –up, stylised Vampirella maquette. This maquette has been made in collaboration with Tracy Mark Lee of Electric Tiki, who is famous for her tooned- up versions of other popular characters such as the Munsters and Spike from Buffy.

Vampirella is a comic book vampire super-heroine originally created by Forrest J Ackerman and Trina Robins. The maquette shows Vampirella standing on a spooky tree trunk base with her new bat friend, Butchie, perched on her outstretched arm. She is, as always, scantily-clad in her signature red sling suit with white collar and her black new high boots. The maquette stands at almost eleven inches tall.

The piece is available for pre-order now and is expected in the UK in February 2014; it will retail for around £129.99. This statue is unlikely to appeal to diehard fans of the original comic artwork as it doesn’t really represent the nineties ‘bad girl style’ she is known for. Instead the statue should be described as cute, however tooned- up statues do have a large following so if you are a fan of Tracey Mark Lee’s Buffy statues in particular this is definitely a piece you will want for your collection. My only personal criticism of the statue is that there is a serious lack of fangs!
